Deer Tracks - Part Two

And here is looking the other way, towards the west, for yet more deer tracks. On the left is a large elm tree. I often see the deer sitting under that elm tree. One even favors the spot where I plant a tomato in the spring. I'm sure he is thinking that if he waits long enough, the tomatoes will come. And then he eats them!

In the background is the well-worn path that I have seen them follow at night. I talked to one neighbor today about all the deer. He has seen as many as sixteen or twenty in his yard. He suspects they are on their way to the yard of a neighbor who puts out corn cobs at night and has a salt lick for the deer. Great, just great.

I once put out a block of salt for deer at our place in Circle Pines, but none ever paid any attention to it. I note that they seemed to enjoy my hostas, though! I suspect other animals may have enjoyed the salt.

I don't envy you the snow. It's been chilly and windy in Bradenton today. In fact, this morning it was rainy and windy and, with the blinds closed, it sounded like sleet hitting the window! Happily, it was not sleet. Tonight the gusts of wind remind me too much of winter. The high today was 65 -- early this morning, and it kept dropping all day, apparently heading for a low of 42. But I ran my errands wearing shorts and a Minnesota State Fair T-shirt. I suspect other Floridians looked at the T-Shirt and thought "It figures. Only a Minnesotan would think this was warm!"
